News from the Business As Mission Resource Team

iBAM Training in the USA

As the Business As Mission Resource Team we continue to look for ways to serve the growing Business As Mission movement and one of those ways is in the area of equipping and training. This year we are running the iBAM Explore seminar in Colorado Springs as a 12 day seminar studying the biblical foundation for business and our role as believers in business as a strategy to share and show Christ to the world. Our teaching faculty are experienced practitioners and leading in their fields. Peter Shaukat, (who was a part of the BAM Symposium at RCE in May 2009), is on our faculty team, teaches week 2 and says the following about the iBAM Course,  “As the global BAM movement gathers momentum, and increases in complexity and diversity, it is becoming more important than ever to develop practical training programs, based on solid conceptual foundations, that will deliver useful "tools for the trade".  iBAM is one such initiative, with "best in breed" potential.  iBAM draws upon the real world credibility of international faculty.  It allows the participant to experience the vibrancy of a multi-cultural cohort and a variety of learning contexts, including on-site examination of real time case studies, in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.  I recommend iBAM as a valuable opportunity for any serious aspiring BAM practitioner.  Peter Shaukat”.

One of our recent iBAM Thailand graduates testimony follows:

"Before I came to the iBAM Course with my wife, we knew that the Lord was leading us to establish an IT Business as Mission company in Uruguay, the least reached country of Latin America. One of the many things that I have heard from other BAMers when they referred to BAM is that these are businesses used by the Lord to transform peoples, communities and nations. However, I was still not sure how the Lord could use such a small IT company to bless a nation! When we came here and experienced these intensive 5 weeks of learning and sharing with other brothers and sisters from different parts of the world, the Lord provided so that we had all these doubts clarified. We learned more about adding value to people, being effective servant leaders in the marketplace, and even how to start a company from scratch. There were so many things that we learned from the staff members themselves by their example and experiences. Now we are coming back home to Puerto Rico with formal plans and ready for a season of prayer so that the Lord can show us when we should move to Uruguay to begin the market analysis. iBAM 2010 Thailand has been a blessing for me and my wife."
