Seek to transform unjust structures of society
Human communities, whether they be a family, a church, a city or an international trading community, are full of imperfections. In fact sometimes they are downright unjust, or to use a Biblical word, sinful.
Jesus came across these unjust structures within his own society and they made him angry, so angry in fact that he took a whip and turned over the traders' stalls in the Temple courtyard.
Faith2Share member movements also come across all sorts of unjust situations around the world, not just in commerce, politics and the wider community, but within our churches as well. We get angry too, and we want to change things.
Our members are not blind to the times when we ourselves have been part of those unjust structures. We sometimes benefited from colonial oppression, the trade in opium, or 'sweat shop' labour and we have not always dealt with women or children in just ways. So when we seek to change society for the better we are also committed to changing ourselves.
In recent years Faith2Share members have been active in the Make Poverty History Campaign, in campaigning for land rights for indigenous peoples, working within the Fair Trade movement and seeking to press forward the Millennium Development Goals, amongst many other issues.
In many of these concerns Christians find themselves working alongside people of other faith traditions and none. We share a common concern for justice within the human family.
As our strapline says, "We believe faith needs to be shared".
