To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
Christian faith is not just for children at Christmas, it is a journey we will be on for the rest of our lives.
Christian faith is also not just a personal thing. Faith2Share members believe that we are all made in the image of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - a community of equal persons. We too live and grow in community, a community we call church.
In this community we learn together what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Baptism is the universally accepted way in which children and adults are welcomed into the church, giving public witness to the goodness of God's working in our lives and our commitment to living in obedience to God.
Faith2Share member movements are working with churches of many different backgrounds around the world to teach, baptise and nurture those who freely express a desire to enter the community of those who seek to follow Jesus Christ. These local churches are of Orthodox, Anglican, Pentecostal and other traditions; they are in great cities, rural villages and refugee camps; and they are led by Russians, Nigerians, Indonesians, and Argentines. In each place we seek to adapt to local custom, work in the local language, and discover what being a disciple of Jesus Christ really means in that context.
As Faith2Share members teach, baptise and nurture others so they too grow in their own understanding of God. Our experience is that God is too great to be completely understood within one culture - we need each other, people from very different cultures and histories, if we are to begin to understand God in any depth at all. The journey has only just begun!
This is why our strapline says, "We believe faith needs to be shared".
