To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation
and sustain and renew the life of the earth
It is impossible to turn on the TV or open a newspaper today without realising that our little planet is in trouble. What's worse is that we are gradually realising that we did a lot of the damage!
Christians believe not only that God created our environment and called it 'good', but also that it is God's intention to redeem all creation. In other words, God has hope for the future of all creation - not just for us.
Faith2Share members understand that caring for our environment is an essential part of our Christian mission. We have been entrusted with an incredible home in which to live and frankly we are making rather a mess of it. Hundreds of species become extinct every year, deserts grow by the month, and the volume of pollutants we put into our air, sea and land every day is frightening. All of this has a real impact on the lives of human peoples, most significantly on our most vulnerable communities.
As human populations grow competition for land, which has for centuries led to war and suffering, is matched by competition for fuel, food and water. Rich and powerful communities need not worry too much, they will probably continue to find ways to satisfy their needs and even their wants. The poor and vulnerable will not be so fortunate.
Faith2Share members are committed to a Biblical understanding of our place within the created environment and our responsibilities for its stewardship. We seek to work with others to honour God's glorious creation, to protect and preserve it, and to discover ways of living in harmony with the environment which enhance human living for all.
A concern for the environment is something we share with many other groups in our world today, especially the young whose future is at stake.
That is why our strapline says, "We believe faith needs to be shared".
